The village of Candelaria,
guardians of the image of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands, is a place
for finding both the sea and tradition. A location whose roots are sunk deep
in over five hundred years of history, since the Guanches, the ancient
inhabitants of the island of Tenerife, found the image of the Virgin Mary
here. Today the island Kings are shown on the square of the Patron Saint of
the Canaries (Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias) where they protect her
saintly figure as they did in olden times.
Throughout the year the village
of Candelaria and its visitors can enjoy plenty of celebrations which are
extensive of joy, colour and tradition. |
